Holy Smoke

2007 KMSHA INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION.....  "HOLY SMOKE"

As a Stallion, Holy Smoke has covered limited numbers of mares but produced high quality each time. His two foals in 2007 were an apricot dun filly and a red chocolate colt.  We are expecting one foal from Smokey next year out of a beautiful black Sam's Son Mare.

Thanks to Smokey, Tara received the 2007 KMSHA Open Amateur Trail Pleasure High Point Award.

Holy Smoke has proven himself to be a true model of the Mountain Horse Breed...gentle, willing, effortless in gait, and absolutely beautiful inside and out!

Silver Dapple Grullo...

This stallion holds a very special place in our hearts. He was our very first stud colt to be born to us. From the moment Tara stepped in to help him be born, saw that he was the foal she had dreamed of and uttered the words....."holy smoke"....he has been an incredible source of pride for our farm.

Smokey is a 3 year old Silver Dapple Grullo KMSHA Stallion topping out at a "whopping" 14.2h!  Whatever he may lack in height, he makes up for in movement. From the very moment he was asked to move under saddle he has been flawless in gait. The most natural horse on the farm! People have asked us how we got this young horse to perform such an exceptionally true 4 beat gait and we simply can't take the credit for it! He's been that way since the moment we began riding him!

Smokey started his riding and show career as a barefoot horse.  We're proud to say that he's never been asked to do anything artificially.  All of the animation and style that he's gained has been accomplished through consistent mountain trail riding! Smokey's grandsire is a speed racking horse, his grandmother a Rocky, thus his father is a Rocky Bred KMSHA horse and his mother...well, she's AMAZING! No, not a Paso, but unlike typical saddle stock. Smokey certainly is unique but certainly encompasses all mountain horse breed standards.

Tara enjoys riding him bareback up and over the ridge tops along the Sheltowee Trail behind the farm. He's a brilliant trail horse, always sure footed and a gentleman in every way.

When Smokey isn't smoking the competition in the show ring or blasting through tough trails in the woods, he's giving young Savanna riding lessons!
