Alliance Mountain Horses has its beginnings in Northern Minnesota with the purchase of a Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Stallion, named Kentucky Bourbon in 2000. Since then our herd has grown and so has our extended family! Brian and Judy Doyle joined with us in 2006 to bring our combined herd of Rocky Mountain and Kentucky Mountain Horses to near 50! This partnership has allowed all of us to enjoy the benefits of shared interest in both showing and breeding.  prettybourbon

The brutal winters of the north drove Chris and Tara to give a more southern location a try , so most of the herd was moved to Morehead, Kentucky late in 2006. It was a good move! Being totally immersed in the heart of Mountain Horse country was enlightening and a fantastic way to gain the experience necessary to create a quality group of horses. The show seasons of 2007 and 2008 were a great success for Alliance Mountain Horses. From 2006 to 2008, our farm has ridden 8 International Champion and Reserve Champion Horses into the ring. We look forward to many more!

With Kentucky always in our hearts, the move to Florida is a sunny new adventure! Having nearly 365 glorious days to ride and a horse community that is enthusiastic about gaited horses, Florida provides us with many opportunities. We are excited to represent the South East with quality gaited horses for trail and show.

Brian and Judy continue to endure in the North, and enjoy showing off their wonderful breed of choice to an ever growing population of Rocky Mountain Horse lovers in Minnesota and the Midwest.  They travel frequently to the Kentucky Shows as well as Florida to visit the band of mares, their pride and joy of a stallion, J.D's Sambo, and of course to help out with trail riding the young stock.

claire1Our Training
We are passionate about our horses and their temperaments. These humble animals are willing to please and make exceptional family mounts.  We believe that the 3 year olds are as reliable as the 10 year olds and train them according to their personalities as well as their physical capabilities. No horse is pushed before its time. With a combination of natural horsemanship, dressage principles and common sense; our young stock is started gently and set up for success each and every ride. Trail riding is our #1 priority from the first day, whether the horse is destined for the show ring or the back yard!

Color
Most people are attracted to the signature color of the Mountain Horse. We love our chocolates! Here at Alliance, we also focus on Duns and Grullos, which are rare in these breeds. We hope to produce a fantastic herd of "stripey" horses with all the characteristics of humble temperament, solid conformation, and fabulous smooth gaits that are true to Mountain Horses. Please visit our Grullo Page to learn more about the Dun gene and our Dun colored horses.

Bloodlines
While we breed both Kentucky and Rocky Mountain Horses, we also have a preference for certain lines that you will see in our breeding stock. JD's Sambo brings the respected lineage of Sam Clemon's Tim to our program, while Steely Dan is as close to the old time stallions as a young stallion can be. Holy Smoke brings a new fresh balance to the program with a completely unrelated line of brilliance totally unique to him! Together with mares from such fine stallions as Tom's Pride, Johnson's Toby, and Sam's Son we look forward to bringing brilliance and quality to our foals year after year.
